What You Can Expect
See the best of Istanbul on a 4-day tour of both the European and Asian sides of the world’s only city to straddle 2 continents. Marvel at the elaborate palaces of the Ottoman era, see the stunning Hagia Sophia museum, and shop for souvenir bargains in the Grand Bazaar. Then, cross to the Asian side of the city on a Bosphorus cruise, and enjoy panoramic views from Camlica Hill.
Day-1: Istanbul
Following your arrival at Istanbul Ataturk Airport, transfer to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.
Day-2: Istanbul (B, L)
Explore Istanbul’s old city on a sightseeing tour of all the main monuments on the European side, including the stunning Sultan Ahmet Mosque (Blue Mosque), one of the architectural highlights of the Turkish and Islamic worlds. Admire its 6 towering minarets and 260 windows that illuminate a vast main chamber decorated with more than 20,000 Iznik tiles.
Cross to the Hagia Sophia Museum, built in the 6th century by Emperor Justinian as one of the largest basilicas of the Christian world. Learn how it was converted to a mosque after the Ottoman conquest, and admire its Byzantine mosaics. Go to Topkapi Palace, the crown jewel of the Ottoman Empire. Finally, wander among the 4,000 shops of the Grand Bazaar, and haggle for souvenirs, such as jewelry, leather, pottery and carpets.
Day-3: Istanbul (B, L)
Today you will take a tour of the Spice Bazaar, center for the spice trade in Istanbul in the city’s historic Eminönü quarter. Catch the aroma of exotic spices, and see vendors selling traditional sweets such as Turkish Delight.
Next, cruise along the Bosphorus Strait and admire the city from the water. See old Ottoman palaces and mansions, as well as the vast span of the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge. Once on the Asian side of the city, go up Çamlıca Hill for a panoramic view of the southern part of the Bosphorus and the mouth of the Golden Horn.
Day-4: Istanbul (B)
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before the transfer to Istanbul Airport or the port for your onward journey.
